# A 2014 study shows walking significantly boosts creative thinking

Just came across a fascinating 2014 study from the American Psychological Association that scientifically validates something I've experienced for years: walking significantly boosts creative thinking.

Researchers found that people who walked (indoors or outdoors) generated far more novel and creative ideas than those who remained seated, especially on tasks requiring imagination and free-flowing thought. The effect was so consistent it appeared whether walking on a treadmill or outside.

This perfectly aligns with how I work. My best ideas for new concepts and the breakthroughs that fix stubborn existing issues almost always come while "living". Whether I'm walking, in the shower, playing, or doing something active. It's like my brain needs movement to connect the dots.

In a world obsessed with sitting in meetings and staring at screens, this is a powerful reminder: sometimes the most productive thing you can do is get up and move.

If you're stuck on a problem or looking for fresh ideas, try taking it for a walk. Your next big breakthrough might be just a few steps away.
