# "I can't put customer data into an AI tool." Correct

"I can't put customer data into an AI tool."

Correct. So don't.

Most owners hear "AI" and picture their entire CRM getting uploaded somewhere. That version should scare you. It isn't the only version.

Three things change the risk profile immediately:

Use a business tier, not the free consumer one. Consumer plans train on what you type. Business and API tiers contractually don't.

Send the smallest slice that answers the question. A pricing model doesn't need names, emails or card numbers. Strip them before they leave your system.

Write down which categories are never allowed out. Health records, payroll, anything under a client NDA. One page, ten minutes, and every future decision gets easier.

The businesses getting burned aren't the ones being careless with AI. They're the ones with no written rule about what leaves the building, which was already true before any of this.
