# I spend a lot of time helping business owners think through AI strategy

I spend a lot of time helping business owners think through AI strategy.

One thing that keeps coming up is that we've been assuming AI agents will use software the same way humans do.

Open a website.
Read the page.
Find a button.
Click around.
Fill forms.

Hope nothing changed since yesterday.
That works, but it's incredibly inefficient.

WebMCP is an interesting shift. Instead of making an AI figure out how to use your website, your website can tell the AI exactly what actions are available.

Think less "browse my site" and more:
- search products
- book an appointment
- submit a support request
- get a quote

directly.

The reason I think this matters is that Google recently started surfacing WebMCP-related checks in PageSpeed Insights. That's a pretty strong signal that they expect agent interactions to become increasingly important.

Many companies are still asking, "How do we add AI to our website?"

A better question might be:

"How does an AI interact with our business?"

Those are not the same thing.

A lot of websites were built for human visitors.

Increasingly, they'll need to work for both humans and AI agents acting on behalf of humans.

The companies that figure this out early may become dramatically easier to buy from, book with, and do business with.

This further reinforces the general shift to API-first for any online presence/business.
