# "We don't have anyone who knows how to do this." Neither did the companies

"We don't have anyone who knows how to do this."

Neither did the companies that figured it out. What they had was one person with three hours a week and permission to be bad at it for a month.

That's the whole entry cost. Not a hire, not a consultant, not a training program.

Pick the person who already automates things in their own workflow. Every small company has one. They build spreadsheet formulas nobody asked for. Give them one process, a small budget, and a standing 30 minute slot on your calendar to report what broke.

The mistake is waiting until you have bandwidth. You won't. The bandwidth problem is why you're looking at this in the first place.

The second mistake is hiring an "AI person" before anyone internally understands what the work actually looks like. You'll pay someone to solve a problem you can't yet describe.

Start with three hours a week and one named process.
