A textbook calculation puts Madrid inside the path by three kilometres. The
Instituto Geográfico Nacional says it is outside, and the IGN is right. Inside Spain the
app never publishes a figure it computed itself — it publishes the official one, for
every one of the 7,531 municipalities.
Un cálculo de manual sitúa a Madrid dentro de la franja por tres kilómetros.
El Instituto Geográfico Nacional dice que está fuera, y el IGN tiene razón. Dentro de
España la app nunca publica un dato calculado por ella misma: publica el oficial, para
cada uno de los 7.531 municipios.

Honest when it’s too close to call
Honesta cuando está demasiado ajustado
The umbral limit runs between towns, not around them. When the municipalities around
you disagree with each other, Eclipse says so instead of guessing — and names the
nearest place that does get totality. From central Madrid that is Alcobendas, about
15 km away.
El límite de la umbra pasa entre pueblos, no alrededor. Cuando los municipios de tu
entorno no coinciden entre sí, Eclipse lo dice en vez de inventarse una respuesta — y
te nombra el sitio más cercano que sí ve la totalidad. Desde el centro de Madrid, eso
es Alcobendas, a unos 15 km.

In 6,060 of 7,531 municipalities — four out of five — the eclipse ends below the
horizon. Madrid’s last contact is 21:24, but the Sun sets at 21:16. Eclipse shows
the time you can actually observe, in your own local time.

del horizonte. En Madrid el último contacto es a las 21:24, pero el Sol se pone a las

The hourly forecast at maximum eclipse, so you can decide whether to drive. And until
the forecast is far enough out to be trustworthy, it says so rather than showing you a
number nobody should act on.

previsión aún no sea fiable, te lo dice en vez de enseñarte un número con el que nadie
debería tomar decisiones.

Fully offline — and ready for 2027

Every municipality, path and calculation ships inside the app. When the mobile network
buckles under a few million people on 12 August, it still works. The 2 August 2027
eclipse is already bundled: the app rolls over to it on its own.
Todos los municipios, la trayectoria y los cálculos van dentro de la app. Cuando la red
móvil se caiga con unos millones de personas encima el 12 de agosto, seguirá
funcionando. El eclipse del 2 de agosto de 2027 ya viene incluido: la app salta a él
sola.
