Advertising in iOS apps

Many people, sooner or later, wonder what is the best way to monetize their iPhone apps. There are many different possibilities but for some (high volume/frequent usage) ads are the best route.
I had the opportunity to try different configurations and there is one that turned out to be the best for me: iAds with AdMob as fallback. Apple's iAd pays very well and easy to implement; not to mention how beautiful the ads themselves are. However, the fillrate is low compared to competition. Google's AdMob instead has a fillrate of basically 100% but a more "reasonable" payout.
Apple guidelines require you to make sure an ad is available before making space for it on the screen. This is perfect for use because when it's not, you simply load one from AdMob. Sweet and easy! :)
