Google just yeeted Antigravity into orbit

Google just yeeted Antigravity into orbit — an AI coding IDE that’s gunning straight for Cursor's throne, zero subtlety.

Business reality check: Cursor was printing money at $20-40/mo with Claude magic. Google’s response? Make the damn thing free (unlimited tab completions, no paywall), subsidize Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4.5 + Gemini 3 Pro inside their own fortress, and vacuum up every reward signal + usage datum on the planet. Classic Google: if you can’t acquire it (yet), clone it, undercut it, and drown it in compute.

Performance is savage: Gemini 3 is smoking Cursor’s default stack on massive refactors and whole-repo understanding, and the agent actually ships real browser automation + verifiable artifacts instead of just promising them. Downside? Quotas vanish the moment you let the agent loose for >15 minutes, and you’re permanently married to Google’s ecosystem (good luck leaving).

Everyone’s cheering “competition is great!” while ignoring that Google giving it away for free is the fastest way to murder every paid AI IDE startup overnight. Cursor’s growth curve is about to hit a brick wall, Windsurf is already dead, and we’re all just renting slightly different UIs on top of the same Gemini firehose.

Winner? Still zero. One side has taste, independence, and no product graveyard. The other has infinite money and a kill switch.

Go download Antigravity, break your real codebase with it this week, and come back crying or converted. Who’s brave enough to migrate first?
