Everyone seems focused on when we’ll reach AGI

Everyone seems focused on when we’ll reach AGI.
But I think we’re missing the more immediate point: the AI we already have is capable of doing a huge portion of the tasks that make up most knowledge jobs.
The bottleneck is increasingly not AI capability. It’s companies figuring out how to actually use it.
Jobs are bundles of tasks embedded in processes, systems, approvals, data, and organizational habits. You can’t just drop an LLM into a company and expect the work to reorganize itself.
Companies need to break down how work actually gets done, identify what AI can already handle, then redesign the workflows around those capabilities.
We may not need another giant leap in AI capability.
We need companies to catch up to the capabilities we already have.
