One of my first apps is finally changing hands

One of my first apps is finally changing hands.

I released it in 2010. Fifteen years ago. Long before subscriptions existed, before TestFlight existed, before most of today’s App Store playbooks even existed.

I’ve sold apps before, but they were young. This one had history.

After weeks of negotiation, everything was ready… except for the classic App Store Connect roadblock:

“One step missing.”

TestFlight 😒

To transfer an app, Apple requires that every TestFlight build and tester ever associated with the app be removed. Sounds simple. In reality, it means manually dealing with years of builds inside an aging UI that feels designed to test your patience, not your product.

I expired every build. They still showed up. I retraced steps. Nothing changed. Time pressure rising. Buyer waiting.

So I asked Claude Code (Anthropic) to generate a script to clean it all up for me 😅

Three minutes later, TestFlight was clear. Transfer initiated.

This app had become part of how I think. Features would surface while walking, ideas would pop up mid-conversation. It quietly lived in the background of my mind for over a decade.

Letting it go feels right.

Not because it stopped working, but because its chapter is complete. Thank you.
