Ask anyone who the biggest developers on the App Store are and they will say Google, Meta, maybe Microsoft.
By number of apps, the answer is a gym software company (947 apps), a restaurant ordering platform (854), a magazine distributor (659) and a gym membership system (599).
9,081 church apps share one software vendor. 4,254 school apps share another. Around 40,000 live apps are the same product with a different logo, each one paid for monthly by a small business or a congregation.
None of these companies is famous. All of them own a trade. They did not build a better app than Google. They picked one kind of customer, learned everything about how that customer bills, schedules and communicates, and became the default.
