The same question comes round the table every few months wearing different clothes.
Should we build it. Should we replace it. Should we fund the AI thing. Someone in the room has been through something adjacent and offers what they did, which is generous and usually the wrong instrument, because their constraints were not these constraints.
A peer group is very good at telling a member whether they are being reasonable. It is not built to tell them whether the specific proposal in front of them is priced honestly, whether the contract lets them leave, or whether the thing being bought solves the problem they described. Those require someone to read the documents.
The useful move is smaller than a recommendation. Name what kind of question it is. "This is not a judgment call. This is a diligence question, and you are about to answer it with anecdotes."
