The Second Opinion

For owners and CEOs about to spend serious money on software, AI, an app, or a vendor.
An independent answer before the money moves.

When a roof needs replacing, nobody thinks it is strange to call a second roofer

With software, most owners ask the vendor whether the vendor's plan is a good plan. Not out of naivety. Because there is nobody else in the building who can read the proposal, and the vendor is genuinely the most informed person available.

That is the trap. The most informed person in the room is also the only one whose income depends on your answer, and both of those things are true at once. It does not make them dishonest. It makes their judgment unusable as your judgment.

You already know this in every other category. You would not let the equipment dealer decide how much equipment you need, and you would not take the seller's word on a building without your own inspection.

Software is the one purchase where owners routinely skip that step, because the second opinion is harder to find and the first one sounds so confident.
